Which Do You Qualify For: A Service Dog or an Emotional Support Animal (ESA)?
Most of you would prefer to register your dog as a service dog because you can take your dog everywhere a person may normally go - without limitations or fees.
To continue the service dog registration process, you and your dog must only meet two criteria. You won't need a doctor's prescription or other documentation to qualify or register:
You: Must either have great difficulty or be unable to perform at least one important life-task without assistance. Examples include: balance issues; difficulty walking, seeing, or hearing; or any condition might require you to be alerted, such as seizures, diabetes, etc. Click on the "List of Qualifying Disabilities" tab above to see 20 different types of disabilities that may qualify you to register a service dog.
Your Dog: Must be trained to assist you with the important life-task. Even if your dog "just knows how" to assist you, like sensing when a diabetic's blood sugar is low (a dangerous situation), your dog would need to be trained to alert you that your blood sugar is low. You or anyone may train your dog. Click here for a list of things your service dog might be trained to do.

The kinds of disability that will qualify you for a service dog takes many forms. Here is a list of disabilities that can be helped by a service dog:
If 1) you don't have a physical disability, 2) your dog isn't trained, or 3) you were hoping your cat or other pet could be a service dog, you should consider ESA registration. Here's how you can qualify:
You: Must have an emotional/mental challenge, such as anxiety, depression, high stress, to name a few. You must also obtain a prescription letter from a therapist or medical doctor. Click the "Need a Prescription Letter?" tab above to get a letter from a licensed therapist. Click here for a more comprehensive list of disabilities that qualify.
Your Pet: Nearly any domestic pet qualifies for ESA registration, including dogs, cats, birds, mice, rabbits, snakes, ferrets, pigs, and many more. Most important, your pet does NOT have to be trained to perform a task. That's because the very presence of your pet helps your emotional/mental disability. Click here for a list of the most common ESA species.
If you think you may qualify for ESA registration, click the "Step 2 button".
If you don't have a therapist or your therapist or medical doctor is reluctant to write a ESA prescription letter, don't worry, the licensed therapists at Chilhowee Psychological Services (CPS) can perform a quick, confidential, and affordable assessment, then email and send you a hard copy ESA prescription letter. If, for any reason, you don't qualify, they'll refund you 100%, so there's no risk at all.
You can go through our ESA registration process without the ESA prescription letter, too. And if you don't qualify - or even change your mind, we give you a no-risk 100% 30-day money back guarantee for any reason!
